I myself am a Medical student and do not follow that certain stereotype.
Does everybody expect doctors to have the following traits- Formal attire, Neat grey hair, Impeccable manners?
I would have said yes a few years ago. However my son's last pediatrician did not fit that description. Our first appointment shocked me a little. He walked in with a football jersey, a mostly shaved head, and an earring. But he was an excellent doctor with a great knowledge base. He treated my son really well. He was even willing to refer my son to an ENT before he had the required 6 ear infections in one year (he was averaging one a month).
I think it's more important to be yourself. Otherwise you'll come off as fake and insincere. Stereotypes are constantly changing and you'll find that certain types of people need a doctor like you. You may seem less intimidating to them than one in formal attire with impeccable manners.

No. Professional attire, confidentiality and knowledge are important to me.

No...for one thing, my doctor is female.
For another, I really don't care about my doctor's hair color - just their ability and knowledge.
I think manners falls into the bedside manner category, and certainly you should treat your patients with kindness and courtesy.

It doesn't matter what a doctor looks like but obviously there are dress codes inside a hospital, assuming thats the kind of doctor you are. All I really care about a doctor is that they are very knowledgeable and considerate. Being funny also puts things in a lighter mood.

Companies flogging pills sure think so.
I only care about competence.

Nope. Bedside manner and not ignoring my complaints as "female troubles" are what I look for. Oh, and don't give me a pregnancy test if I come in with a headache.
One of my favorite doctors actually told me she looked forward to seeing what I'd done with my hair when I came in.

those traits are just stereo typical. if you wanna be a doctor, don't be an a**hole, be nice and sincere with your patients, show compassion, and confidentiality is the most important things a doctor should be.

No, just that they're friendly, kind, concerned, professional, and actually do their job properly.
And a medical degree : )
