It is good to have it high-lighted 2 or 3 times within this 6 months period, so that the ends will get light enough. But don't strip your colour off in one go! Just start dying the roots a couple of shades lighter than the shade you have it now. Each time you get your hair done, go another couple of shades lighter and the grey will "fade in". When you go in to colour your hair have them leave strips of your gray hairs out so it kinda looks like gray highlights. It'll look like your just starting to go gray and and leave more and more strips out every time you do it. It'll look like a natural transition.
